Installing the Feature Key
The feature key activates the features that have been purchased for your OneBox
server, such as fax messaging support and Faxtext.
Choose one.
If you are installing... Then...
A new OneBox server
No installation is necessary; you have
already installed the key during the
setup sequence for the OneBox
telephony server.
Fax support on an
existing system
Shut down the telephony server, insert
the key disk into drive A, and run the
disk’s setup program. Then restart the
telephony server.
For information on shutting down and
restarting the telephony server
properly, see the guide Installing
OneBox Version 3.0.
Establishing LAN Connections
If the telephony server and fax server are installed on separate platforms, they use the
LAN that connects them to coordinate their handling of calls that involve both voice
and fax signals, such as voice-annotated faxes and Faxtext document orders. Because of
this coordination, it is crucial that the LAN connections between the two platforms
work properly.
The fax server can use either TCP/IP or NetBEUI/Named Pipes protocols to integrate
the WorkServer modules with the telephony server, so one of these must be installed
on both servers.
For Enterprise Fax Manager to function, you must be using either TCP/IP or
IPX/SPX. Most customer site installations use TCP/IP. Ensure that the selected
protocol is enabled on the fax server platform prior to installation.
Before installing the fax server software, make sure that each server can find the other
over the LAN.
